They invented the gauze, a poetical anecdote for healing,<\/span><\/p>\n

Only for their wounds to be left open,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

undressed & bleeding,<\/span><\/p>\n

And yet they thank Allah, smiling in the face of it all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d lose all their things,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and yet, amidst destruction and lives gone,<\/span><\/p>\n

they build the strength to celebrate weddings.<\/span><\/p>\n

And they find pure happiness that goes beyond brick and stone,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

because like they said, \u201cWe love life if we find a way to it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d have their mosques reduced to rubble,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0and yet pray in congregation, their beliefs unwavering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

because like they said, their resistance doubled;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cYou can destroy our mosques but you cannot destroy our faith.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d lose every single toy they\u2019ve had,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

every precious possession they owned, before the old worn-out chance of goodbye.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0And yet, say firmly while looking at the silent world directly in the eye,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe will teach you manners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just as you left us to the cold and destroyed our homes,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

we will show you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will not surrender; we win or we die.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d lose their loved ones left and right,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0their sons and daughters that brought them pure affection and great delight,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and yet, find the bravery to say, the maternal love captured in writings;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cHeaven suits you and is your place, my darlings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d bear the news of their families meeting death before their dreams,<\/span><\/p>\n

With pure, golden pride running through their veins.<\/span><\/p>\n

And whisper, honeyed smiles in place, \u201cthey\u2019ve been blessed with martyrdom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

For years and years back, 2154 was revealed,<\/span><\/p>\n

and what better way to let their grief bloom and be healed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Only they\u2019d look up at the white dazzling light<\/span><\/p>\n

in the vast expanse of the darkest night,<\/span><\/p>\n

and tell their loved ones what a bright star it was.<\/span><\/p>\n

To pretend it was in fact a star, to pretend everything is alright.<\/span><\/p>\n

That way perhaps, they can pretend the pain away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even if it silences them forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

For me, that\u2019s resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

For me, that\u2019s Palestine.<\/span><\/p>\n
